things that are overrated

1. The Beatles. I really like them, but they weren't that good. I frequent one particular music bulletin board where there will be dozens of threads about The Beatles at any given time. Yes, they wrote lots of a great songs. Yes, they were influential. Get over it! They broke up almost 40 years ago. Cut it with the necrophilia.
2. Angelina Jolie. I'm sorry, but she's not that good looking.
3. Megan Fox. She's OK looking, but can't act and sounds like a complete moron in her yawn-inducing interviews.
4. Olivia Wilde. Like Megan Fox, this chick keeps showing up on the covers of magazines I get or in articles. Not that hot and not that interesting (but definitely more interesting than Megan Fox).
5. Escargot and caviar. How this mushy, mostly tasteless crap came to be sought after menu items for foodies (a term I loathe) and the wealthy is beyond me.
6. Chocolate. Doesn't work as the main ingredient for any food, if you ask me. Best if used as a flavor enhancement, nothing more. Lindt truffles might be the one possible exception.
7. Reality TV shows. Commentary not required.
8. Tomatoes. Great for salsa, tomato sauces, ketchup. Horrible by themselves or when used for most other purposes.
9. Bananas. Give 'em to monkeys. There are better foods humans can eat.
10. Steve Jobs and everything that Apple does. I have no idea why people continue to push the myth that Steve Jobs has personally created every Apple product ever conceived, or why they wet themselves with glee at every pronouncement he makes. iPods/iPhones are great products, yes, but I question Jobs' personal involvement and argue that if you're into quality music and video, there are better players.

Feel free to comment and add to this list.

  1. I have a ton to add to this list, but at first thought, I'm going to have to say Dane Cook. Could you find a less funny individual than this person?

I do think Olivia Wilde is pretty awesome, though. Her involvement in Attack of the Show definitely helps her cause.

  2. I was thinking of Olivia Munn, not Olivia Wilde.

    Yeah, Olivia Wilde is overrated.

  3. Angelina Jolie has her moments. She's definitely going down hill in looks. Megan Fox is a dumb ass who says outrageous things to get attention. Olivia Wilde, don't know who that is, is she the one on House? I've never watched that show. If I remember correctly, she was #1 on Maxim hot 100, and if that's the right person, you're right. Overrated! Reality shows, usually that's the only thing I watch but lately, they haven't been holding my interest. Pretty sad.
