If hell is boredom, then I am in hell, and the path to this hell was paved by my professor. The beginning of this course on market research was interesting, with lively discussions about how to conduct research and the pitfalls of the various forms of data collection. With my experience in market research, I even got involved in these discussions (something I rarely do these days) and, according to some of my classmates, became the teacher's pet.
We've moved beyond these discussions to data analysis, and the room has become painfully silent. I look around, and I see the majority of the class surfing the internet on their laptops. I, personally, haven't raised my hand in several sessions. And despite our obvious lack of interest in multivariate regression analysis and cluster formation, the professor goes on and on and on. He forgets to give us breaks (each session is three hours long) unless we interrupt him. He has a creepy, other-worldly passion for the topic, which is admirable, but it blinds him to the truth--we just don't care that much.
At least his intentions are good.
