more than a feeling

Every once in a while, I become obsessed with a song. I'll listen to it over and over and over and over again. Previous obsessions have included:

Evanescence - Lose Control
Marvin Gaye - You Sure Love to Ball
Ozzy Osbourne - Suicide Solution
Bjork - Come to Me
Led Zeppelin - Good Times Bad Times
Thievery Corporation - Un Simple Histoire

I've been obsessed with "More Than A Feeling", a song by Boston, for the last few days. I've listened to it several times, and I can't get it out of my head. I'd never had a recording of it until the other day, and honestly, I don't think I'd ever even heard more than the chorus (special thanks to those 70's hit compilation CD commercials). Honestly, I love the chorus, but I could do without the rest of it. Maybe I'll create a version of it which has the chorus looped over and over again for myself.

I was the first person in the office this morning, so I cranked the tunes super loud, like I always do when no one's around. Right in the middle of "More Than A Feeling", my boss walks down the aisle singing the words along with the song. That totally cracked me up. I said to him, "What, wasn't this about junior school for you?", and he replied that it was. More laughter. We always have entertaining exchanges about my music. Last December, I was the first person in the office and was blaring Led Zeppelin, and he walked in and made some smart remark about my "Christmas music". Ever since then, every time he hears me playing metal (which is a lot), he'll say something like "Must be Christmas!"

"More Than A Feeling" came out in August 1976. I came out in September 1976.

  1. Great song! Let's see, you were born in 1976 ... that means I'm old enough to be your mother! I turned 24 in 1976. Yes, I am an aging baby boomer ... and proud of it. :)

  2. That is the most amazing song! It's pretty much my favorite song to play in Rock Band. Boston rules.
