the LA auto show

My brother has a tradition of taking my dad to the LA Auto Show for his birthday. Since I happened to be in LA for Thanksgiving, I tagged along for the day. It was a great day for this, weather-wise. Here's a photo I took before we left my parents' house:

Temperatures were in the 60's and 70's the entire time I was in LA, which was nice--a far cry from the cold, rain and snow of MN in November.

We saw lots of cool stuff at the car show, with the Porsches (especially the Cayman S black edition), Aston Martins and BMWs probably being my favorite things.

Cayman S black edition. I'd love to own one:

I don't think I'd ever buy an American car, but this Mustang is pretty cool:

The best car Kia has ever produced. Too bad it's just a concept.

Leave it to Kia to put fake Burberry plaid in a car:

There were plenty of booth babes at the show, but I only took photos of a few since this was LA, not Japan.

This was an interesting car. I forget the make, but it had only one seat, which was centered in the middle of the car:

My first time seeing a Bugatti Veyron, one of the fastest cars in the world:

My first time seeing the iconic Ferrari Enzo:

Check out the detail in this engine:

Mercedes SLS convertible. Pretty nice looking car:

For the ultra-rich, a Maybach. Nothing much to look at other than the shocking price tag:

Jaguar is doing a lot of nice cars these days:

Lexus's new supercar, the LFA. Pretty nice from the side:

Not so great from the back:

After the show, we found a nearby Mexican restaurant and stopped in for lunch. It was not your typical Mexican fare, but it was really good. I appreciated how spicy their salsas were (salsas in MN are always bland by comparison), and my dish--grilled meats and peppers--totally cleared my sinuses.

Traffic was pretty bad on the way home, but this gave me a chance to sweat it out in the back of my brother's car and take a trip down memory lane with him and my dad, which was pretty fun. A good ending to an overall great day.
