once upon a war

Last Sunday, I decided to use my afternoon to visit the Imperial War Museum in London, which came to me highly recommended by a couple colleagues. Here's the exterior:

Check out the size of those turrets. They were taken from a British navy ship. Unbelievable.

I guess I was expecting the museum to be more about uniforms and medals and stuff, but there was actually a ton of vehicles and artillery inside. Probably a good place to take your young male children.

Something I'd never heard of before--an Italian two-man submarine:

Everything in there was the real deal, and it was pretty cool. I've never seen most of that sort of thing in person.

There was also an art exhibit that contained war-oriented art: art inspired by war, propaganda, etc. I actually liked quite a bit of it. Too bad photography wasn't permitted. Photography also wasn't permitted in the Holocaust exhibit that they had, which was extremely informative and had an exhaustive among of detail, photographs, etc. It was a somber way to end the visit, but definitely worth seeing. I decided I would keep the mood going by watching "Schindler's List" over the next couple of days. Depressing, but one of the all-time great films.
